TPPA Widens Opportunities For Bumi Contractors: PKMM
PASIR MAS, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The Trans- Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) will widen opportunities for Bumiputera contractors with more investments coming into the country, says the Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKMM).

"The deal will not limit opportunities for small Malay contractors or put pressure on them, the issue does not arise at all, as even before the TPPA Malay contractors had been investing abroad and foreign investors had been investing in Malaysia," Vice President Datuk Mohd Rosdi Abdul Aziz said.

He was speaking to reporters at a community service programme officiated by Pasir Mas Umno chief Datuk Hanafi Mamat at the Kampung Apa-Apa mosque in Tendong here today.

Rosdi, who is also Kelantan PKMM President, said the government should be applauded for highlighting protection of Bumiputera interests in the TPPA negotiations.

On Feb 4, Malaysia and 11 other countries -- Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam -- signed the TPPA, a multilateral trade pact that would widen market access, reduce tariffs and promote free trade.
